Department of Otolaryngology - Head and Neck Surgery Medical Extended Reality Symposium

Held November 18, 2026 in Davis, California, the medical extended reality symposium featured an impressive slate of speakers including Brad Strong MD, Michael Topf MD MSCI, Kyle VanKoevering MD, Michael Li MD, Safdar Kahn MD, Julia Sharma MD, Rick Price MD, Alexander Marston MD and Brandon Strong MS. 

 

Speaking on how the future of medicine in evolving, the speakers shared examples of how medical augmented reality is being used in mandibular reconstruction, spine surgery, and pediatric neurosurgery. Additionally, the symposium featured examples of how 3D printing is being employed in head and neck oncologic surgery. 

 

Beyond the presentations, the symposium offered an opportunity for hands on experiences using AR and VR equipment. ​​
